The open source LED board controlled by Pico with a maker-friendly approach
ML01 is a DIY LED board based on the Raspberry Pi Pico 2W microcontroller. Designed for enthusiasts and makers who want to learn, build, and modify their own lighting solutions with fun and freedom.
16 yellow LEDs driven by 2x TPIC drivers for efficient power management
Several operating modes manually controlled with 2 physical buttons
Wireless remote control and complete log consultation via autonomous Microdot server
All the LEDs are lit up to illuminate your world
Minutes displayed with 1 LED positioned thanks to the synchronization with NTP server
The open firmware allows functionality to evolve almost without limits
THT components for easy hand-soldering, maintenance and sustainability
With the 12.5W power supply included or directly from your PC's USB port
Low consumption and small price because you also participate in the assembly
I trust in a transparent & intelligent open source approach, which is balanced between sharing knowledge and sustaining independent makers. I've lost count of the hours I've spent on this project because I'm doing it out of passion in my free time and because I have a genuine need for this kind of device.
The idea of sharing all of this with everyone came later and requires additional work to deliver the most polished and well-documented product possible. It's utopian to believe that open source means 100% free, and small enthusiastic makers like us also need to cover our costs to continue. That's my philosophy.
đ ī¸ Want to modify or build your own version? All the technical information you need is freely available.
đ PCB design files (KiCad layouts, Gerbers, 3D of the assembled PCB) remain unpublished at this time in order to protect against counterfeits or cloned products that do not respect the approach shared here. PCB source files may be released later depending on project sustainability.
Advertising is increasingly stifling the web, which was originally intended to be an open network. Rather than embracing mass marketing or other restrictive crowdfunding campaigns, I'm counting more on the maker community to grow this project and evolve in the right direction.
I'm actively seeking cross-promotion partnerships with fellow makers who share similar values. If you create complementary hardware, coding, tools, educational content, etc... let's collaborate! Some examples to start:
